Kathy Hochul projected winner of New York gubernatorial race — White Plains Government news

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Governor Kathy Hochul is the projected winner of the 2026 New York gubernatorial race alongside Adrienne Adams, who will serve as lieutenant governor. Governor Hochul, the first female governor of New York, was elected in 2020 and had appointed Antonio Delgado as lieutenant governor in 2022. Delgado had sought to challenge Hochul for the Democratic nomination, but ended his campaign days after announcing a running mate in February. Adams is a former speaker of the New York City Council from Southeast Queens. She was elected in 2017 as the first woman to represent City Council District 28. According to Siena, Governor Hochul had been leading Blakeman in its August, September and October polls. Her lead widened to 54% compared to Blakeman s 40% in the most recent October poll. Marist also showed Governor Hochul ahead by 11 points in October. The poll also found 40% of registered voters said their family finances have gotten worse in the last year. Anot
